Kyle's Home Page - Playa Del Carmen Page

Here I am swimming in a cenote, which is a fresh water lagoon. Cenotes are all over the Yucatan Peninsula, and this one is a well known cenote close to the Royal Maeva, which is about a mile south of Playa Del Carmen. The cenote is about 50 meters from the coast, and not visible unless you stumble upon it, or at least follow the clearly marked path. Mary didn't swim, and instead took this picture. There is a cave that extends under a cliff on one edge of the cenote about 8 meters, and gets to about 6 meters deep. The water is cold and refreshing. Read my Playa FAQ for more information about cenotes.
